Whilst the hospital you stay in will provide all your medical care needs, there are still a few items you will need to take with you for your stay

Here are a few suggestions:

  • Nighties/Pyjamas- one for each night is preferable, bear in mind hospitals are kept quite warm so consider cotton/light material.
  • Slippers- rubber sole ones as floors can be slippy
  • Dressing Gown- light material.
  • Toiletries- soap,flannels,toothpaste,tooth brush,deodorant and hand towels.
  • Hair care- brush, comb. Some patients find taking a dry spray shampoo useful.
  • Baby Wipes-handy for freshening up.
  • Lipbalm- handy as your mouth can get quite dry if not eating/drinking. please make sure lip balm is petroelum free,as petroleum can ignite near oxygen.
  • Something to read- magazines may be better then books, your concerntration can be limited.
  • Paper and Pen- handy for taking down any notes you may forget or if your keeping a journal on your journey.
  • Some money- you may be able to buy the morning paper or use the telephone.
  • Some hospital will allow mobile phones, ipods and laptops. Please check with the hospital your stay will be with.
